More than 10,000 boxes have been donated by people who are still alive to help those in need.
The boxes are made up of a collection of toys and collectibles donated by families and friends.
They’re also a chance to share stories about the people who touched them, and what makes their lives special.
“It’s like a hug and kiss,” said Jennifer O’Donnell, who lives in rural South Carolina.
She said she’s never felt more connected to the box than when she opened it to a stuffed rabbit she has a love of.
“It was so much more than just a toy, and a piece of jewelry,” she said.
When the boxes are opened, a gift is made to help an elderly person or child in need, the organization said.
