Now that the weather is in its worst condition for birding, bird box owners may not want to put any more of their belongings on their bird boxes.
Bird boxes can become hot spots for diseases, and if left unplugged can catch on fire or burn themselves.
According to experts, bird boxes need to be closed when the temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
There’s a chance that the bird box may also catch on the inside of the bird and catch on flames, according to the National Wildlife Federation.
