BOXER DOG FIGHTING BEGINS WITH BOXER FIGHTING DOGS FROM LAKE TEXAS The first of three new boxing fights will take place in Lake Texas on June 14, according to an official announcement by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.
The bout, which has yet to be announced, will be held in the former San Francisco Warriors arena.
The announcement was made Thursday.
The event will take a similar format to the first bout in the boxing tournament, but the venue will not be a boxing venue.
The fighters are expected to come from the area’s burgeoning boxing community.
The first bout, scheduled for June 11, will feature veteran middleweight and former UFC middleweight champion Rafael Marquez (19-3-1, 15 KOs), who was signed by WBA/IBF super middleweight champ Anthony Dirrell (28-3, 20 KOs) and WBO/IBFC champion Gennady Golovkin (26-3) as the headliner.
The second bout, slated for June 14 at the San Diego Convention Center, will see former WBO middleweight titleholder Anthony Dirr (25-3), the reigning super middleweights champ and WBC champion Gegard Mousasi (28) and the reigning IBF welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (27) taking on the current IBF middleweight titlist Kell Brook (27-1-1).
Brook, who is from Los Angeles, was a former WBC titleholder before he was turned down for the WBA title, and he was knocked out by Brook at a unification bout with Miguel Cado.
Cotto, who fought his last fight in February, has not fought since his loss to Brook in May.
The third bout will take the place of a bout between former WBA super middle and middleweight champions Amir Khan and Amir Ali (32-4, 26 KOs).
Both fighters will fight in the WBC World Super Middleweight title fight.
Khan, a former world super middle-weight champion, and Ali, who was stripped of his title by Khan’s promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. after the latter’s controversial decision to knock out Amir Khan in May 2015, both were forced to vacate their titles by Khan in April.
Khan has since been on a short hiatus and Ali is currently ranked No. 2 in the World Boxing Association rankings.
