Box Office mojo has picked its winners this week, and they’re all on top form.
The weekend was dominated by two films that are destined to make big in the box office.
Gravity and Cinema Paradiso will open wide next week, followed by American Sniper and The Martian, which will also open wide on Friday.
The biggest shockers were American Hustle and A Christmas Story, both of which will open on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
A major disappointment was Grizzly and the directorial debut of the very underrated Dennis Hopper.
I was disappointed that I was unable to pick up Grundy, the first film of the new James Franco-produced Fargo, because I thought it would be a huge hit.
But it was a surprise to me that this film managed to take in less than a tenth of the box-office pie.
Fittingly, Fiddler on the Roof will debut on Friday, and it is an adaptation of a children’s book, Grimm, that will likely draw some big-name stars.
American Psycho will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 16.
