Milwaukee Bucks’ big man Giannis Antetokounmpo (2) and center Joel Embiid (27) battle for a rebound against the Atlanta Hawks during the second half of an NBA basketball game in Atlanta, Georgia, Sunday, March 18, 2018.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
— It’s not often a basketball team wins a championship in their first season.
But the Milwaukee Bucks were just that last year.
That team, a 23-10 record, won the NBA championship.
So who did the team win it with?
Milwaukee’s Giannis.
Antetokunpo.
Ebisid.
It was an incredible accomplishment.
The team had a team record of 19-8, had the best record in the league and went to the Finals.
But in the summer of 2017, Milwaukee decided to do something it had never done before: sign a big man who could be a difference maker in a rebuilding season.
Antets and Ebisids are not the same player.
Antes averaged 17.9 points and 10.5 rebounds for Milwaukee last season after a disappointing season in the NBA.
He’s averaging 17.6 points and 12.7 rebounds for the Bucks this season.
Ebesid averaged 17 points and 13.2 rebounds last season and will likely see a lot of minutes for the Milwaukee bench as they prepare for a playoff push.
Ebisids game for the Bulls is set for Wednesday, and Milwaukee will have to rely on Antets and Antetoks experience in the rotation.
Anteets career is not in question.
He’s averaging 20.3 points and 11.6 rebounds for his career, which is good for a solid .700 clip for a big.
He’s been able to play a big role for Milwaukee, averaging 18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in 39 career playoff games.
Enisid’s numbers are even better, averaging 16.2 points and 8.9 rebounds for Atlanta.
It will be interesting to see if the Bucks will have Antetakis or Ebisid in the starting lineup.
Both players have been solid for the club this season, but they could also help a struggling Bucks roster in a playoff series.
The Bucks are 4-3 with Antets, Ebisiden and Antets leading the way.
The Bulls are 4/2 and 4/1.
