At a news conference on Thursday, Nate Diaz said he is interested in a fight with UFC middleweight champion Conor McGregor, but not for a title shot.
“Nate Diaz is not interested in getting a title fight with Conor McGregor,” Diaz said.
“He’s not interested.”
The UFC has yet to respond to Diaz’s comments.
Diaz, 29, was the first fighter to defeat McGregor in a UFC championship fight.
He then lost a decision to Diaz, the winner of four straight UFC titles.
But Diaz said after the bout that he was interested in fighting for the UFC title, and McGregor responded with an Instagram post: “The only time I fight for the title is if I win.
I’m going to fight anyone, no matter how good or bad they are.
If they don’t fight for me, I fight anyone.”
McGregor is also the reigning middleweight world champion.
He has a record of 19-3 with 12 wins and three losses.
